My name is Don Weisal. Many of you know me, but for those that don't I have been playing Nero for 13 years, I was one of the original WAR owners and I advised alot of Nero players. I recently spoke with a friend who is a relatively new NERO player and as we were speaking a problem is starting. The problem is keeping things in game and out of game when you are talking away from the game. Because I enjoy the game, I try and help people out when I see a problem. We have a lot of new players in the last year and I am see a big problem we had years ago. The problem is the people sit around with their "friends" and talk about what they are going to do ingame and they going " by the way, that was out of game". Then the person they told suddenly know ingame what the pc was planning and there are accusation of metagaming and cheating, feelings are hurt and "friendships" are ended. I have a very simple philosophy. If you tell me what you are going to do in the game, you have told me it in game. There are acceptions, but they are rare. If you do not want someone to know that are secretly plotting to over throw the Lumberton Tavern. DO NOT TELL ANYONE THAT ISN'T INVOLVED. If you don't, don't be surprised when you buddy rats you out. I hope that some of you take this to heart. Rember trust no one until they prove they can conspire with you. Thanks for your time, Don Weisal

More ingame/outagame stuff for new players (and old players too)
(A good topic thread even if Don meant it to only be one post :) )
Be true to your in game character, but don't get caught up in the out of game drama. One of my characters has been in conflict and accused of crimes by PCs who play nobles a lot lately. As such, although I think it is bad for NERO in general to be on this bandwagon, he is on the "I hate Nobles they are all dirty" kick. But Dan is not in conflict with the people who accused him of being a slaver or of the people who (blah blah blah). Keep your characters in game anger at the in game enemy and don't get it mixed up with the people. Another example (as of 5 minutes ago) is the guy that plays Reesie (who I don't think I know or have met) just called my PC a punk arse beytch! (or the in game equvilent). In game, I'm outraged that a gypsy leader is openly mocking me and (blah blah blah). Out of game, I don't know this cat and am sure he is just playing his pc.
So, some of us are pretty into the imersion role play, but don't let it bleed over to out of game stuff.

You are not playing NERO right
Here is one I was guilty of for a long time...
I play NERO as a live action role play game which includes fighting. Others prefer more action and less sitting around. Some play and think it is a great weekend if they can role play the entire time in a circle of power. Others feel a game sucks unless they get phat lewt. Others want to be the center of attention, others want to be known as the best stick fighter, others want plot love, others want plot to leave them the hell alone....
Which of these is the Real Way To Play Nero?
All of them. Do not get caught up in thinking other players are doing it wrong if they are not doing which of these you think is best. And most plot teams can (and do) cater to all of the above.
(Ok, anyone else going to add to this thread on mixing In and Out of Game?)

Don and Dan,
I agree with every teeny word you have posted. Additionally, I could add a horrid example of mixing in game and out-of-game issues, but unfotunately, that would stir a nest that I would rather leave alone. For new players, I would simply suggest they take both of your ideas seriously. This is, after all, just a game and should be treated as such.
