Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
In Celebration of the Summer Festival, Lumberton Shire will be conducting the festivities in conjunction with the market gathering instead of the traditional date of June 30. All are welcomed to come and partake of the merriment, enter contests of skill, chance or luck, or root on your favorite champions as they clash for glory and recognition. Each contest will be given a set starting time. Those that wish to participate must be preset at the start. Rules for the contest will be posted at the site where the contest is taking place. There will be no leeway given for tardiness, as a strict timetable must be followed.
In tradition of the celebration, at the eighth hour past the mid-day, all that intend to announce their intentions of marriage are asked to gather at the tavern to do so to all that are in attendance. May this market be a joyous one, and may all who attend leave with fond memories of friendship.

Contests……..
At the 10th hour in the morning, the maze race will take place. This is a timed race. But beware there are locks and traps that will hinder your movement. This race is open to all who feel they are skilled enough to make it through. Arrive at the tinker’s guild hall at least 5 minutes before the race begins. (mod shack)
On the 11th hour…Feel you are skilled enough to throw a weapon. How accurate can you be? Can you hit a moving target? How about one standing still? Those with the right training may enter this contest of skill. Weapons will be provided if you choose not to bring your own. Be at the Horace’s smith shop, just on the outskirts of town. (mod shack)
When the sun is at it’s highest, and the mid-day arrives, the archers need to gather. No shadow will disturb their sight for none will be seen unless they look down. Likewise the excuse of the sun getting in their eyes can’t be used unless they are looking up. If you are that type of archer perhaps it is best you don’t enter. If you aren’t then this may be the contest for you. Open to all archers. Bow and arrows will be provided if you choose not to use your own. Report to the Count’s archery range just before the sun is at its highest point. (mod shack)
When it is the first hour past mid-day, all who feel they are skilled as a caster may enter. This one is a two-fold contest. First is accuracy, while the second is defeating an opponent with magical skills. Requirement: must be able to cast at least one spell from either memory or scroll. Meet in the field outside the tavern.
At the 2nd hour past the mid-day, there will be the clash of steel, the breaking of glass, and the smell of magic in the air. The battle will consist of 3 types of melee. First is 1 on 1, which will be divided further by hardiness. The second is a team competition. Teams of three will face off to find a champion. Finally is the all out battle, where only one will survive and be named supreme champion. This contest is open to all. Meet in the field outside the tavern.
Are you skilled at creating works of art, fine jewelry, articles of clothing, superior suits of armor, strong weapons, or other similar crafts? Then you will need to submit an entry by the 3rd hour past mid-day. It will be judged by an exceptionally sharp-eyed panel of experts. Bring your best piece at your entry, or pieces if you cannot decide on which is best. Limited to three items per contestant. Contestant need not be present at time of judging, but item entered must be registered by the 3rd hour. Judging will begin at that hour. A table will be set up inside the tavern to hold all entries.
Calling all bards and storytellers. At the fifth hour, come show your stuff. Tell tales of heroic warriors, sing songs of love lost, or maybe retell glory days of old. Whatever you choose will be enjoyed by all in attendance. Open for all who wish to show off their skills of words and song. This contest of the vocal skills will be held on the porch of the tavern.
Are you the best baker of the land or are you a confectioner who has the most delightful sweets? Show us how laboring over the hot kettle or oven can produce the delicious treats. Have your wares available by the 6th hour of the evening for our panel of judges to taste. Limit of three entries per participant. Not necessary to be present when judging. All entries will be inspected for alchemical enhancers, as they will not be permitted, and if found the entry will be excluded from the contest. Open to all. A table will be set up inside the tavern to hold these goods.
Announcements of the winners will be at the 7th hour of the evening. All are asked to be at the tavern for these announcements and to support all who participated in the contests.
Additional contests may be sponsored by various groups within the Barony. Be on the look out for those announcements and the rules involved with them.
