From the reports I received when they returned they were attacked. I do not think anyone knows the exact condition of the returned when they return, so the assumption that he was not the deceased returned concerns me. How do we know who to attack and who not to when they return. Is Sir Tidus to be attacked? I understand he has returned from the dead. Tordex, Fooz?
How is the determination being made who is to be attacked on sight should they return and who is not?

I can not speak for anyone else. My "condition" was a living breathing human being with all my memories up until I died. I was not attacked but I went to someone who I consider my friend to work through things. If they appear to be living beings and not undead, they shouldn't be attacked. In my travels, I have heard of several thing that can bring back someone who was supposely permed and bring them back. My understanding is that the occurrence that brought me back was the combination of nature magic and dragon magic concentrated in the graveyard of Rockcrusher Forge. That was closed, I felt the effect of it myself. There may still be residual effects from that. Did Sir Tidus come back with the skills of a new adventurer? Everyone who came back as a result of the occurence that brought me back did. If not, it is a diferent cause. These causes are usually a result of a deal with a being from the plane of death or fae magic. As for how the determination is may to attack people on sight, I don't know. You should never attack things on sight unless you know what they are for certain, like undead or dark dwarves.

Fooz, I agree. I am not implying anyone should, the opposite is true, I am implying that whoever attacked the returned person at Vargus should use caution.
Even the statement "unless they appear undead". I assume you were not aware of your appearance when you returned. I also assume it is difficult at best to determine if a newly deceased person is undead. As their body would likely be the same as a newly created undead.
We do not know the very first stages of the Return. Perhaps when first returning they are non corporeal? Maybe when you first appeared, before al of your faculties returned you would have appeared undead?
We simply do not know, so attacking on sight seems ill advised regardless of appearance and maybe even regardless of actions. Perhaps when first returning your spirit is confused? you might exhibit strange or violent behavior.
resurrection of a strong spirit is difficult and causes at the least temporary insanity if not guided in, would it not be wiseto consider that returning from permanent death would be equally difficult and may cause some confusion?
I do not know if the one that attacked at Vargus was one of the returned, but if so, I am definitely curious about their motivation and desire to quickly dispatch another Possible returned...

Michael, good point. As far as I remember, I appeared as if I returned from a resurection in a circle, but without a circle. I only know how I look when I had my facilities. I appeared in the tomb of the Thirteen. I don't know if anyone witnessed the return of anyone else. I have not heard of any of the people who have returned attacking or acting confused.

tidus came back cuz it wasnt his time some guy who didnt like me...um yeah i cant remember his name broght him back

When I returned I aslo came out of a resurection circle. I didn't feel any different Squire Tordex Stronghold

I saw Gili return in Rockcrusher forge. He just appeared from nowhere without the benefit of a circle but did not appear as any sort of undead. Nor did he "feel" to me as if he was undead which normally would be apparent to one such as myself.

I am thinking zees is ze same as anything else through zee Tyrran histories.
It iz ok to horribly kill someone, as long as you can get everyone to be agreeing he was being zee "evil".
So! You simply take zee popularity contest. If everyone agrees to it, you are proclaimed zee hero.
If not, well there's zee jail time thing.
Or!
We could all just quit giving zee orc's butt, and resume zee drinking.

Gili Rockcrusher took form in are manor house at the very first market day at Rockcrusher. He didn't use a circle but, he was brought back through a resurection process. When his body formed it was like any other resurection. He took form as himself. Their was no undead or non corporeal. Gili is the only "returned " I have seen come back for the first time right in front of me. Squire Tordex Stronghold

So some appear through a circle without the benefit of a resurrection, some appear without a circle with a resurrection, and some like Tidus come back as a favor completely whole, so the only thing we do know is that we do not know.
So again, why was the form of Tati Damashay instantly attacked after having died and then reappearing when it was not known if appearing first non corporeally could be part of the process?

From what I saw, the manifestation of Tati was not instantly attacked. I know I heard some sort of argument, went out to find out was going on, and what looked like Tati was there asking to talk to various people. It was not attacked at all until it led us into a trap, at which point it attacked us first.
It was a rough market.
