So, simply to clarify, I heard a rumor that the LCO items created with formal levels are automatically extended for a year. Is this true or false?

No. The casting of the extend or greater extend will be subtracted from the amount of available formal levels if they apply to the formal being cast or if you choose to have them extended. A 1 shot cure wounds item, you may be willing to have for only 5 days and not need the extend cast on it.

Actually Bill, a one shot item is good for a year without the extend. However, a once a day item would need to be extended to last longer then 5 days.

That was what I meant. Thanks Don for catching my mistype. Darn work getting in the way of what I want to do. Go figure. Shhh

And the same would go for any others that would require an extend to take them past their alloted time frame. They will be LCO and will pop at the appropriate alloted time unless the exted is cast and you will need to use the levels to do that.
